MSG No Longer in Goldilocks Food Products

People are now concerned about eating healthy. They wish to indulge themselves but are more conscious of how their health is affected by what they eat.

Goldilocks, the original Filipino favorite bakery and food chain known for quality baked goods and food here in the United States, has kept this concern in mind.

First, Goldilocks made mamon healthier by introducing Mamon Lite. The Mamon Lite has the same delicious taste as the traditional mamon but without the trans fat, with less sugar, lower calories and less cholesterol. Mamon Lite is made partly with sugar and partly with Splenda so it satisfies one’s craving but doesn’t sacrifice one’s health.  Mamon Lite is made with canola oil, which is lower in saturated fat than any other oil and has Omega-3 fatty acids, which has numerous health benefits.  Mamon Lite can be eaten as is or with fresh fruit to complement its taste.

Then came healthier breads. Goldilocks fortified their bread products with Iron and Vitamin B complex vitamins Thiamine, Riboflavin, Niacin and Folic Acid. They also made their breads cholesterol-free, with 0 grams trans fat per serving, ideal for those who want to eat healthy.

In their most recent move, Goldilocks has removed MSG from their food products. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is used as a flavor enhancer in a variety of foods. Its use has become controversial in the past 30 years because of reports of adverse reactions in people who've eaten foods that contain MSG. Research on the role of glutamate, a group of chemicals that includes MSG, in the nervous system also has raised questions about the chemical's safety.

MSG is not considered as an allergen but rather as an adverse reaction. People who eat food with MSG might develop dizziness, nausea, headaches, and in severe cases, collapse and unconsciousness.

But patrons of Goldilocks food products no longer have to worry about MSG. Goldilocks has done extensive research and has reformulated their recipes so that they no longer use MSG. They have even gone to the extent of researching the various ingredients they use to ensure that these have either no MSG at all, or have very minute or trace quantities of MSG only.  As of April 2006, food products in Goldilocks Northern California now have NO ADDED MSG. Goldilocks food products are now a whole lot healthier but with the same great taste.
